Neal Blue Wins Von Karman Wings Award

General Atomics Chairman Neal Blue received the 29th Annual International Von Karman Wings Award presented October 17 in Pasadena, CA by the Aerospace Historical Society and Graduate Aerospace Laboratories at California Institute of Technology. The Society has honored many aerospace pioneers with this award since 1985.

The Society said Mr. Blue was recognized "for his visionary and leadership contributions to the aerospace industry, in particular, transforming UAVs from science fiction to agile systems and pioneering novel applications of UAVs for our national defense and security."

Mr. Blue has been Chairman and CEO of General Atomics (GA) in San Diego since 1986. GA's affiliated companies include General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), of which he is founder and CEO.

GA-ASI's Aircraft Systems Group produces the Predator® series of remotely piloted aircraft used in the Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan conflicts. GA-ASI's Reconnaissance Systems Group provides tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as high-resolution surveillance systems for both manned and unmanned aircraft.
